The spring break fun continued today (after a “healthy” breakfast, of course!) Today we were off to the aquarium, always a good time. 🙂 Brian really liked this gigantic plushie sting ray, but it’s nearly as big as him, pretty impractical. We convinced him that just taking pictures with it was okay. 😉 Brian did get a shark tooth necklace at the Wings store, something he wanted to do after seeing a coupon for a free one in the guidebook magazine we’d picked up. We had lunch at the Big Oak Drive-In, known for its yummy shrimp sandwiches and pretty amazing onion rings, too. We even got some apple fritters for dessert. 🙂 Then, we headed off to Fort Macon, or “Fort Fun” as the Visitor’s Guide called it. 😉 Brandon and I had some laughs about that, but the kids really did have fun there! They like running around and opening up all the doors to see what’s inside. In the gift shop, Kendall liked the display of Audubon plushie birds, especially the cardinals, but didn’t actually ask to get one. 🙂 Brandon got a deck of replica “spotter” playing cards, which were used during wartime to help the soldiers learn how to identify planes. Of course Brandon doesn’t need any help with that, he can already identify every plane we see. 🙂 Afterward, we spent a little time on the beach flying kites and playing in the sand some. It’s too cool for getting in the water, but it was fun to be nearby! Kendall had been really jealous of Brian’s note-taking, so at the grocery store we got her a cute pink notebook to have for her own. She was so sleepy, she ended up taking a nap on the couch while we made dinner!
