Marbles Camp! Week 2

Tuesday:
AM: Soda Bottle Science
7-8s made colorful density columns today, illustrating that liquids of different densities remain separate when combined. They also conducted a nano filtration experiment wherein colored water was filtered to be clean.

PM: Bakery Basics
Chefs learned that there are many ways to make some of the bakery’s basic recipes. They made blondies and brownies but with a twist – the brownies were made with black beans as the secret ingredient. While their treats cooled, they designed and constructed graham cracker houses.

Wednesday:
AM: Soda Bottle Science
Scientists were gushing with joy about the Mentos geyser experiment they conducted this morning. Campers were asked to hypothesize which types of soda would produce the highest gushing geyser. After making their guesses, they put their theories to the test to gather results.

PM: Bakery Basics
Biscuits are a staple in any great bakery. In today’s baking session, 7-8s perfected their recipe with cheesy drop biscuits and soft pretzels. With treats like these, these chefs will have a booming business in no time.

Thursday:
AM: Soda Bottle Science
Scientists created and shot off bottle rockets today! They used construction paper, tape, and a few other materials to test how adding wings and other pieces to the bottles would affect their flight.

PM: Bakery Basics
Everything was topsy turvy in the kitchen today while the 7-8s worked on their Pineapple Upside-down Cakes. The treats tasted as good as they looked!

Friday:
AM: Soda Bottle Science
The final experiment this week was elephant toothpaste! Campers mixed together soap, food coloring and a few other ingredients to have some foamy fun!

PM: Bakery Basics
7-8s celebrated Friday in the kitchen by making marshmallow fondant, which they learned is a little like icing!
