Whew! Today was a long one. It started off with a Lowes Build and Grow for Brian, where he made a sweet Avenjet (the Avengers’ jet) with Iron Man. Later, we were off to the airport to start our trip to Colorado! The kids were super pumped up, and the free goodie bags the Fast Park & Ride folks gave them made it that much more exciting. We made it to our gate and then… Waited. And waited. And waited some more. Some genius managed to spill fuel all around outside of the plane (I kept imagining the gas fight scene from Zoolander). So, we were delayed from leaving RDU for a solid three hours. Once on the plane, we did have a bit of fun. I taught Brian about how to make a silly duck face with Pringles (he thought that was hilarious). Also, we saw a pretty amazing double rainbow outside the plane! (What does it mean?*) Naturally, we ended up missing our connection in Dallas. We could take a later flight, but that meant we had a three-hour layover. We took the opportunity to get some dinner at a TGI Friday’s, and I decided that since I had to be in Texas, I might as well get a steak. Did you know, you have to cut airport steaks with a plastic knife? It was news to me. We did make our new flight, and happily arrived at Grandpa and Grandma’s house rather late. The kids just loved the room that was made up just for them! The thought it was extra special because Grandma had made blankets for them as well. Frozen for Kendall, and Avengers for Brian–so I guess the day came full circle. 😀 Speaking of circles, the kids noticed the decorative holes on the drapes. Kendall thought they looked a lot like the sun icon that shows up a lot in the Tangled movie (Rapunzel). She just loves that movie–I bet that was so magical for her!
*sorry for the dated meme reference, I couldn’t resist. 😉
