Today we took a trip out to Lake Lynn park, a perennial favorite! It’s been awhile since we’ve visited our animal friends, and we had a ton of bread heels to give them. There were a lot of visiting seagulls, who we don’t always see here.. But today they were out in full force. The ducks and geese seemed to be pretty full already and were settling down, but the seagulls were ravenous, of course. Once they noticed we had so much bread, they completely mobbed us! It was very exciting for the kids, because they came so close, flying all around us.
Both before and after our walking/biking/strolling/feeding tour, Brian wanted some playground time. He almost didn’t remember there was some playground equipment at this park, since we don’t always use it, but he was happy once we showed him! He learned about locking his bike up at the bike rack, and practiced locking and unlocking it with Daddy (who remembered the code! Whew!) Kendall enjoyed some swing time and became a huge fan of the slide. She showed off some newfound walking confidence, by taking a lot of steps by herself! Go, Kendall! And just in time for her upcoming 15-month checkup, too! (I’ve been trying not to flip out about her not walking, as long as she takes off before her checkup next week!) Brian wanted to try the adaptive swing, and Brandon tried coaching him on how to pump his legs to get more momentum going. He’s making some progress there. The sun was setting, but Brian managed to fit in some whirlwind games of “I’m in jail” and “welcome to my lemonade stand!” before we had to leave.
Everyone was famished after all the activity, so we decided to hit up one of our favorite local establishments for dinner, the Lynnwood Grill. Kendall was a pretty big fan of the spinach and artichoke dip, and ate her spaghetti with such gusto, the staff took notice! Brian found his grilled cheese underwhelming, I guess, but he was transfixed by all the sports on TV.
Brian is also loving the new piano, and I hope I can find him a piano teacher.. It’s proving difficult to find someone nearby that can work with our schedule, however. But for now, Brian just has fun with it, and sometimes I show him how I can play some of his favorite Star Wars tunes (I’ve picked up some fun sheet music for us!) It’s not super easy for me, since it’s been so long since I’ve played. But it’s probably good for Brian to see that it takes practice, because he can get discouraged easily when he can’t do something the first time. Wonder where he got that from. 😉 I guess all the excitement left Brian in a silly mood this evening, as he wanted to show off his bathtime mohawk again, and modeled his Lego Star Wars/Abbey Road t-shirt for us with some tough-guy poses.
