Brian’s graduation from Goddard School was this evening, and wow.. I’m so verklempt! It was a really sweet ceremony. It started off with opening words from the director, and a sweet slideshow featuring a lot of the activities the kids have done over the school year. The kids performed a number of songs, featuring things they’ve learned at Goddard, including Spanish, Chinese, and American Sign Language! We were all so impressed with our little ones’ accomplishments. 🙂 When it was time to get his diploma, Brian walked right up and accepted it so graciously, very clearly saying “thank you” to Mr. Bill as he shook his hand. Other parents commented to me afterward about Brian’s excellent manners, and how they just loved that he said thank you. 🙂 Kendall was pretty tired, and a 7pm ceremony was a bit of a challenge for her, but she behaved about as well as we could have hoped for!
Afterward, Brian came running to find us, and gave me a peach-colored rose. It was time for cake and snacks, which Brian was very happy to partake of! There was a little bit of dancing, too, and Brian showed off the moves he’d learned from Just Dance 4 to “That’s What Makes You Beautiful” and “Call Me Maybe”. After a few more bites of cake, Brian was ready to run around with the kids, who started playing a game of catch while sprinting back and forth across the stage. Somehow Brandon and Kendall ended up in the middle of this game at one point! Kendall had found a second wind after the sit-down parts of the ceremony were over, and was tearing around the gym like she had rocket boosters on. These kids were really spun up! As if he wasn’t sugared up enough, we’d promised to take Brian to Goodberry’s for mint chocolate chip a few days ago (it just seemed so serendipitous that his favorite was the featured flavor of the day on his graduation day!) Kendall was so exhausted, we got our frozen custard packed to go, and enjoyed one last treat as we opened up Brian’s graduation cards and the gift bag he’d received from the folks at Goddard. (Further proof that he is the sweetest boy in the universe: upon receiving some cash, I asked if he’d like to put it in the bank, or if he’d like to spend it. He thought about it for a few minutes, and then told me, he wanted to use his money to buy Kendall a princess doll. Awww!)

In Brian’s gift bag, we were surprised to find a CD-ROM which included the musical slideshow from the graduation ceremony! That was so nice of the folks at Goddard to provide it. We’ll post it here for the grandparents who weren’t able to make it out. 🙂

Grandma Cheryl liked the music video of your school year, Brian.
