It was a beautiful day, so after playing picnic with the toy food for awhile, we decided to have a real picnic at the Raulston Arboretum at NC State. We packed up our gear, picked up some takeout from Neomonde, and enjoyed our Mediterranean feast on the picnic blanket. Then we set off to explore the arboretum. The kids loved discovering the big colorful dragon sculpture, and the stone garden. Kendall kept trying to pick up the round ones, saying “ball!” We liked the desert plants too, though Brian was a bit wary of the cacti. There were lots of interesting flowers blooming, and we walked and walked until everyone was good and worn out. When we got home, we enjoyed some homemade ice pops on the porch. We’d made them with fresh fruit, vanilla pudding, and orange juice. Then the kids went straight to their baths, since they were more than a little sticky! 🙂 All in all, a lovely Sunday afternoon.
