Tent Breakfast Picnic

Tent Breakfast Picnic

We left the backyard tent up overnight, although we didn’t sleep in it.  Brian seemed a bit reluctant when it came down to sleeping outside (and honestly, I was a bit nervous as well–remembering his nighttime escapes when he was two!)  But this morning, Brian couldn’t couldn’t wait to get back outside and into the tent.  So, we decided to pull together a no-cook picnic breakfast, and carried it outside to have in our tent.  We had lots of seasonal fruit, including some really enormous blackberries (Brian made me take a picture of one!  And also the tiny slug he saw on our impatiens. 🙂  )  After breakfast, the kids played ball, coming up with new tent-based games, and sometimes just rolling around and literally bouncing off the tent walls.  Once the morning warmed up, we relocated back inside.  Kendall had a fun time playing chef, as Brian arranged his cars and played Lego Star Wars.  Kendall was cute playing on our bed with a case of the silly giggles, and Brian did a really excellent job coloring the octopus during bathtime.

  1. Grandma Cheryl and Grandpa Roger

Nice photos. Role playing – so much better than watching TV. When we were kids, Grandma Cheryl played under the grain house – the “basement” was exposed as the building sat on stone pilings on each corner. It was dark and cool under there and we made mud pies, mud cookies and mud cakes. Grandpa Roger says that they played on the dirt floor of their basement.
