With the top floor’s air conditioning unit being broken for the past few days (why does this sort of thing always happen around a holiday?!) it finally became unbearable upstairs.. So, we had a family sleepover, together on the middle level. Brandon and I had the pull-out couch, Brian had the other couch, and Kendall (to her great displeasure) was in the pack’n’play. Not the most comfortable, but we made the most of it! The kids made all sorts of pillow forts and blanket tents, and that made it pretty fun. We brought down nightlights, one of which projects star shapes, and Brian’s Darth Vader flashlight. Kendall just loves taking off his helmet! We had fun playing a lot today, will the grill set, sidewalk chalk and bubbles, Lego Star Wars, stomp rocket, Star Wars figures, music toys… All over the map! We even brought out the Speak’n’Spell–a toy from TI that Brandon and I both had as kids, and really enjoyed. Brandon’s been working hard on the garage project, and check out that awesome wall system he’s got going now! Getting those items off the floor will help a lot. After Kendall’s nap, we decided to have our homemade popsicles (made from fruit, vanilla pudding, and orange juice) outside–they are tasty, but very messy! The kids got super sticky, and then super silly as the sugar took hold. Brian played with the stomp rocket as Kendall looked on–she got so excited every time Brian launched it! You can tell from her reaction, this was the height of entertainment! While working in the garage, Brandon found some unused “highly-available beverage helmets” that celebrated a Red Hat Cluster Suite release a few years ago. We tried to get Kendall to pose with one on, but she wasn’t exactly into the helmet look today. 😉 All in all, a super fun summer Sunday.
