Another busy Saturday! This morning I had to step out early to get my hair done, while Brandon and the kids headed to Lowes for another Build and Grow event! Today Brian built a Pizza Planet delivery car, as featured in the Toy Story movies. Poor Kendall had to watch from her stroller! Brian had been begging for a key from the custom key cutting area in Lowes–a house key printed with an M&M pattern. Brandon gave in, and even had it cut for him–so now Brian has his first house key.
Afterward, it was off to school. Yes, school on a Saturday–but we usually make the effort to make it to Goddard’s Open House events! I met up with the crew over at school and we enjoyed some cookout fare on the playground, and the kids enjoyed the toys and a musical performance! (The duo didn’t know any Ramones tunes, however–Brian asked!) 😉 Brian is way too big for the toddler playground’s cars, but he loves them anyway! The kids enjoyed visiting all the classrooms, seeing their favorite teachers (Kendall loves Ms. Jackie, who was her teacher in the infant room–she says “Jackeeeeee!” when she sees her!) Brian showed me the produce his class has been growing all summer, with a display in his classroom, and a tour of his garden plot outside! He gave me the rundown on what is growing where, exactly how many of each vegetable they’ve had, and he was disappointed that the sunflowers were already past their prime (they were pretty spectacular earlier in the week!) Brian was pleased to see that Ms. Vineeta had put up the party banner exactly where he’d suggested on Friday afternoon. 🙂 We let Brian get a treat from the Kona Ice truck, and of course he picked the reddest red slushy there was! Luckily he was a nice big brother and shared with Kendall. They really are so great together. 🙂 On the big playground, there was a sledding setup, made with real snow! Sort of a Christmas-in-July treat for the kids. 🙂 Brian loved it just as much as he did back in January (for the warmest “Let It Snow” party you could imagine!)
After the open house, Brian was off to skating lessons, and I had some playtime with Kendall. I’d picked up a Lego Duplo policeman and motorcycle for her, which she really enjoyed! When he got home, Brian liked it too–especially the traffic light and cone accessories! After the gas station’s motorcycle was so popular with them, I could tell that we needed to have two Duplo motorcycles in the house.. 😉 Later on, we decided to break out the air popper and make some popcorn! It had been awhile, so Brian didn’t really remember how it worked. He was so excited to make a huge bowl of popcorn! We thought, well, popcorn like this just begs for a movie, and since we hadn’t seen Toy Story since visiting Grandpa Roger, we thought we’d watch it again–especially because Brian didn’t remember where his Pizza Planet car came from! After a quick double bath, the kids were off to bed. Whew! Busy days, as usual. 😀
