Today we saw some of our Goddard friends again, when we went to see a baseball game! This was a special family game at the Durham Bulls, sponsored by the Goddard School. The kids got into the spirit early, wearing baseball caps as we were getting ready to go. Once we arrived, we were happy to see that Brian’s friend Selah and her dad were in attendance, and sitting near us. Mr. Malay gave Brian and Selah new Durham Bulls hats, and Ms. Vineeta came by to sit with us for awhile. Brandon did a great job explaining the game to Brian (especially for a self-professed exclusive hockey fan!) We let the kids go wild with fun snacks and treats, including a rainbow sno-cone, cotton candy, hot dogs, and of course, Cracker Jacks. This kept them well entertained, but also brought out the wiggles, so Brandon and Kendall took a walk around the stadium (really, they walked all the way around!) We could pick them out, even on the opposite side, due to Kendall’s bright orange top. 🙂 Brian played and danced with Selah, both of them making the silliest of silly faces whenever they caught me wielding the camera! It was a fun time, but at the end, there was a little drama, as the kids were invited to run the bases. Selah wanted to, but Brian didn’t.. He couldn’t really articulate why he didn’t want to, and poor Selah started to wail, “But I can’t be happy without hiiiiim!” 🙁 I had to really resist saying some sort of “girl power!” platitude after that! On the way out, we posed for some pictures with Wool E. Bull and walked around the American Tobacco Campus a bit. The kids loved the giant mushrooms outside the Mellow Mushroom pizza place! Brian found a quarter and some interesting leaves. The waterfall feature was also pretty fun, and I thought the bright red hibiscus really fit the summer vibe.
