Yikes! A Car Accident

First things first–everyone is okay.  That’s the important thing. 🙂  This afternoon there was a bit of a deluge in Raleigh, with some flash flooding.  Brandon went to pick up the kids in my car, remembering to avoid low-lying areas that might flood on the way to the school…  But, on the way home, muscle memory took over and he forgot and went the usual way–right by Crabtree Creek (notorious in this area for flooding).  The road was covered in water (it was actually much worse than what the traffic cam shows, according to Brandon) and people were making some, let’s say, bad decisions.  Brandon stopped to avoid someone who was swerving out in front of him–but someone behind him was less observant, and my car got rear-ended. 🙁  I was home cooking dinner when I got the call, and just turned everything off and went to pick up the kids.  The parking lot at the mall was filled with cars and police from many other accidents that had happened that afternoon.  Everyone was a little bit shaken, but there were no injuries.  My car will need some expensive body work, which the insurance should cover (eventually), but we’ll be without it for awhile.   Brandon is writing up a very detailed report for the police, and Brian now has a very strong real-world example of why we must always, always wear our seat belts.  I’m just glad everyone is okay. 🙂
