Lego Kids Fest 2014!!
Lego Kids Fest is back in Raleigh! We didn’t think it would be back so soon–usually they don’t repeat cities, but I suppose the Fest was a big success here! I know we did our part when it was here last time, and today was no different. 😉 Like before, the Fest is about four hours of somewhat-controlled chaos, and never seems quite long enough. There were some new attractions this year, and Kendall got a lot more out of it this time! She enjoyed the Duplo piles quite a...

We finally received our long-awaited pick-a-brick order from Lego.com–I’d had a plan for a Valentine surprise, but underestimated the shipping time for a custom order! But, even though it was late, Kendall and I had fun making a Lego rose and cute message to surprise the boys with after swimming lessons! I had also purchased some lightsaber elements, and Kendall thought those were just awesome! She made a quadruple-decker lightsaber and was quite proud of herself! We also...

It’s very typical for us to go out for Mexican food on Friday nights. Tonight was a little different, instead of our usual haunts, we took the kids to the downtown El Rodeo near Red Hat Tower. It had been a long day for everyone, and the children were kind of wild–poor Brandon got the worst of the abuse! 🙂 But, they did well enough to get rewarded with some fried ice cream. Brandon definitely earned...

We’re all so grateful for some decent weather, we decided to play outside this afternoon! Brandon and Brian played soccer while Kendall and I played in the sandbox. We added some smooth river rocks to the sandbox, and Kendall had a good time cooking with those.. She was pretending all the pinkish rocks were strawberries. I asked her if the white ones were coconut, and she very seriously told me “nooooo!” Later, Kendall wanted to get into the soccer game, and she had fun,...

It was another super busy Satuday! This morning Brian had Lego Club, with a Lego Movie theme–awesome! He made some funny minifigures while he and Brandon were there, too. 🙂 Next, the boys were off to Lowe’s Build and Grow, where he made a cool claw game. The claw doesn’t actually grab, like in the real ones, but it does work like a hook to pick up things! I stayed home with Kendall, who entertained me while I got ready for the day (who knew a basket of rocks could be so...

Today was Brian’s classroom Valentine party, rescheduled due to the snow last week. I’d signed up to volunteer and read a book, way back in August–very glad I had lots of reminders! I asked Brian which Valentine book he wanted me to bring, and he couldn’t decide between his Curious George and Splat the Cat Valentine books, so, I brought both. 🙂 I think it worked out well for me to read both, it gave the other moms plenty of time to get snacks prepared and such!...
