July Playdate with Ty
This morning, I surprised Kendall with a felt cupcake I made for her last night. I think it’s safe to say she liked it! 🙂 We had grand plans for a splash day playdate with Ty today, soaking up all the July sun and heat we could handle. But the weather had different plans, being a lot cooler and wetter than we’d expected! But, we did have some clear patches, and we made the most of it! We splashed and played and played with sprinklers and such, on the already-muddiest summer...
Read MoreLego Club, Reading Class
We had a busy morning today! We started off with a Lego Club meeting, with a Ninja Turtles theme this time. Brian hasn’t really gotten into the turtles, but he had fun anyway. At the end, there was a special surprise–a lady came by with some turtle-themed prizes! Brian chose a mask, which we both thought was cooler than the foam finger. 😉 Next, we were off to Brian’s reading class over at NC State. On the way home from class, we picked up lunch for everyone at...
Read MoreArt Camp Roundup!
Today was Brian’s last day of his Ancient Adventures art camp, and honestly, before this afternoon, we didn’t have a clue as to what he’d been working on all week! Of course we asked him, but usually all he felt like talking about was playing at after-care, or nothing at all. Certainly nothing about the ancient Greeks and Romans! We weren’t even sure if he was having a great time there..! But today, all of that changed, when we came to his art show. We had told...
Read MoreIce Cream Social!
Today was the Goddard school Ice Cream Social! Even so, it was tough to get Brian to leave his art camp! He’s having a great time there this week. He even loves the after-care part of it, where he gets to build all sorts of things with some pretty unique blocks and materials, like the battle scene he made today. This morning, he was pretty excited about his Olaf sticker, which matches he gold-colored Ninjago shirt. He made me laugh on the way into camp, as he noticed “a whole...
Read MoreArt Museum Camp!
Brian starts his new Ancient Adventures camp at the NC Museum of Art today! He seems excited, and I know we are already loving the convenience of the location, and the full day schedule! Grandmother has been on my mind since her passing, and even though it’s not Christmas (or even Christmas in July!) today I took out and looked at the ornaments she sent me when I got married. One precious walnut basket that Granddaddy made, and a beautiful double-ring crocheted ornament she made for...
Read MoreScanning Day, The Second
When processing the results of our scanning day, I had the horrifying realization that the first photos we did that day (which were rather dusty, coated in disintegrating tape, etc.) had done a number on the scanning lens. Nearly all of the following scans had some pretty major flaws, due to dust on the lens. I’m somewhat proficient at fixing up photos, but.. I’m not practically able to do hundreds of edits on hundreds of photos, in any reasonable amount of time. So.. We...
