New Years Day
It’s New Year’s Day, and we took it easy today and just chilled at home. The kids had fun with some of their new Lego sets. Sure, why not have one of the Lego Friends wear Captain Rex’s helmet? I really enjoyed building Rapunzel’s tower with Kendall, I just loved all the little details! Kendall played in her kitchen too–pretend ice cream shop is a game that never gets...

It’s New Year’s Eve! The kids are suitably excited, pretending they are “jumping up and down in muddy puddles!” just like Peppa and George. Today, we had to let Grandpa Roger head back to Colorado, but before he left, we got in a little more funtime by riding bikes over at Root! After taking him to the airport, we played at the observation park for awhile, until we saw his plane safely take off. Back at home, Kendall received a surprise from Daddy–a pink Build...
Read MoreSkating!
Today, Kendall got her wish of going skating with her new pink skates! We packed up and went to the IcePlex, and everyone but me strapped on their skates and hit the ice. (I’ve never learned how to skate, and I’m not willing to risk an injury right now, no thanks!) I found a nice spot to watch the action, bundled up, activated a pile of handwarmers, and enjoyed the show. 😉 Kendall could stand on her skates right away, but she seemed to freeze up on the ice (if you’ll...

Today we took Grandpa Roger to Marbles! They had a special Engineer It! activity room set up, with all sorts of building materials you could use to make contraptions that cause a chain reaction. What fun! We spent a lot of time in this room. As the ranking engineer in the room, Grandpa Roger took the rest of us to school. 🙂 Kendall really liked hooking up the little cars to strings and dragging them around and around. Brian liked creating big marble runs. We did manage to play in some...
Read MoreSteve’s Birthday Bear
Brian had decided back in August what he wanted to give Grandpa Steve for his birthday–his own Build-A-Bear, dressed up as a little fisherman–complete with a little fishing rod and two sparkly plush fishes. He never forgot this plan, and was just so set on it, today we made it a reality. The kids both took this present-making very seriously. They started to argue over who got to prepare the little heart that goes inside the bear before it was stitched up–but then decided,...

Today we all went out to Zebulon to visit Nana Rosemary and Pake Sytse. It was a sunny day, so we walked down to the pond to see the new trail they’d cut. The kids liked being out in nature, and I did, too. Brian liked getting to drive the golf cart a little. We saw so much mistletoe in the trees, some of it was so low, we could reach out and grab it! Grandpa Roger took a photo with a sprig of mistletoe for Grandma Cheryl, and I got Brandon to pose for a cheesy photo with some....
