Pumpkins Concert
Tonight, Brandon and I escaped for a rare weeknight outing, having a nice dinner at Oro and then going to the Smashing Pumpkins concert at Red Hat Amphitheater! Huge thanks to Steve and Sue for picking up the kids from school, feeding them dinner, and treating them to a really fun night so that we could go out! I first saw the Smashing Pumpkins in concert 20 (gulp!) years ago, and it was nearly as long ago for Brandon. It’s fair to say they are Brandon’s all-time favorite band,...
Read MoreMystery Readers!
Today was a special day for us at Goddard School–Brandon and I got to be Mystery Readers for Brian’s class! Different parents took turns reading some of their child’s favorites for the class this week. Brian was pretty surprised when it was our turn! We brought in two of his favorites, Punk Farm and Punk Farm on Tour. Brandon read the original and I read the sequel. I made a video of Brandon reading, since he does such a great job with it! 🙂 After the books, we played...

Today was the Carolina Hurricanes’ Alumni Game, which is a really fun family event that we look forward to! Veteran players return to the ice, and even some fans get to play with them (I think they probably have to make a pretty nice donation to charity to get the chance..! 🙂 Kendall was adorable in her pink jersey, and Brian was rocking both the black jersey and ball cap. (He was pretty pleased with those bunny snacks in the tie dye bag, he wants you to know about them!) Our friend...

Today’s Lowe’s Build and Grow project was a grabber toy from the movie The Croods. Kendall watched from her stroller–I bet she wishes she could make her own projects! Brian gave her a wild ride in the store (when he wasn’t trying out the lawn mowers), and Brandon picked up supplies to make a shelf for Kendall’s name train to put in her room. The kids played peek-a-boo with Brian’s quilt while Brandon mounted the shelf. I think Kendall was very pleased...

Today was really busy! It started off with Brian going to another Lowes Build and Grow events, where he built a monster truck! While at the Lowes, Brian really wanted to get some flowers to take home, and Brandon said that would be okay. He picked out a red geranium, some yellow and red pansies, and a pink gerbera daisy. Once they got home, we all went outside to enjoy the sunny day and plant the flowers in some of our containers! We might have some frosty mornings yet, so this way, we...

Whew! Okay, where to begin.. So, this weekend was the Lego Kids Fest up in Richmond, VA. When the Fest was last in Raleigh, Brian was still pretty new to the Lego scene, and Kendall was still on the inside! We just knew Brian would get a lot more out of it now that he’s older and a Lego expert, but unfortunately, the Fest only goes to a few cities each year, and we’re not sure if it ever makes repeat visits! So, when we saw it was coming as close as Richmond, we knew we had to make...
