Tonight, after school, we headed over to the PNC Arena for the Carolina Hurricanes Kids Club Party. It is kind of a mini-version of the bigger “Skate with the Canes,” focused on the younger fans. Festivities got started up with a cut-throat game of “Stormy Says” (exactly the same as Simon says, except you have to do what Stormy the Ice Hog says). Problem is, Stormy doesn’t talk, he’s a mascot after all. So, the game is narrated by Shane Willis, a retired Hurricanes player and current Youth and Amateur Hockey Coordinator for the team. Brian was disappointed not to win, but there were a lot of good kid players that night.
As usual, there were inflatables to check players into and tables to exercise art skills on. Brian made a poster that included the numbers of all of his favorite players.
But, let’s be honest about why we’re here, to skate on the PNC Arena ice! And boy did Brian want to show off his developing hockey skills. It was tough when time was up to go, but it was a great time to be had!
