Busy Building and Birthdays

This day was the definition of a busy 5-year-old’s day… and dad was just trying to hang on. It started with the latest Lowe’s Build and Grow project day. This clinic was to build the “Wheel of Love”. He’s really into these projects and gets better at doing the tasks himself each time we go. All of them have moving parts, and this one was great, it was a spinner like you’d find on a game show or something. After assembly, he got to go wild decorating it how he wanted with the stickers provided. Afterward we “test drove” the tractors out front, and climbed picnic table mountain. Definitely a good time!

Meanwhile, while the boys were out-and-about, Kendall found one of Brian’s old Winnie The Poo balls that he said he didn’t need anymore and wanted to give it to Kendall. He wrapped it up and created a gift tag and everything for her. Very sweet of Brian to do that to let her know that we were still thinking of her, even if we were gone for most of the day. She unwrapped it and really enjoyed playing with it a LOT!

Back with the boys, we were off to Erin’s 5th Birthday Party at Raleighwood Cinema Grill. Brandon hadn’t been in a long time, and it was fun to be back. The movie was “Rise of the Guardians.” Certainly something that we hadn’t been interested in when it first came out, but it was really a fun and sweet story, we were both glad to see it (except for, maybe, a couple of scary parts where Brian sat in my lap). We had pizza for food, but really cool was that instead of cake, we had ice cream sundaes. That was definitely unique and a lot of fun!

Hey, what’s going on back at home? Kendall mirrored Brian’s apple-chomping techniques of the same age. We had to get some shots as it was a great throw-back for us. For those that want to visit the way-back machine, here is a photo of Brian’s apple victory.

What are the boys up to? Another party of course! After the movie we were off to Carter’s Birthday Party at Monkey Joe’s. Bounce-house places aren’t really Alison’s thing, and Kendall is too young, so they didn’t feel they were missing out. Brian has become so independent at these places, I just spend the entire time following him around, no help required. We had another round of pizza. We also got cake in a cool LEGO Star Wars design, which was obviously a hit with Brian.

After the party, we ran the van through the car wash. It was a nice enough day that we sat outside and watched the guys dry and do the finishing touches to make the van presentable again. A fun end to a super-busy day!
