Being the parents of a five-year old, it seems as if every other weekend is a birthday. In reality, if you count the multiple-birthday weekends, that number is probably about right. But today’s birthday excitement was for Ayden. The parties for Ayden and Nico are extra special as it’s not the standard group of kids for Brian, as he doesn’t go to school with them. For those that need the refresher, Ayden is the son of my friend, and co-worker, Corey and his wife Sarah. The super-nice thing about these parties is that Nico and Brian are at Ayden’s, Ayden and Brian are at Nico’s, and Ayden and Nico are at Brian’s (when there isn’t a Labor Day conflict).
Ayden’s Party location was a first, it was at Lifetime Fitness. The pizza and cake were pretty common (but good), but the really cool thing was that there was a bounce-house, rock-climbing wall, and basketball court. I’ve been rock climbing twice and enjoyed it, but, surprisingly, Brian (the king of climbers) was apprehensive about rock climbing. Mike, Corey, I, and others all tried to convince him, but it wasn’t happening. Brian instead lit it up on the basketball court… doing a darn fine job for a 44-inch kid shooting at a 10-foot rim. He did passing, dribbling, and of course shooting. He broke that up with bouncing. Nico and Brian were fairly inseparable as usual. Brian absolutely loved Ayden’s X-Wing Fighter cake. A great time was had by all!
After all the party fun, I assembled our new piano! While I was hard at work, Kendall and Brian decided to have a picnic while watching daddy. I don’t think I’m that exciting, I think they just enjoy eating on the rug 🙂 We’re hoping to get Brian signed-up for piano lessons soon!

Brian is a natural athlete like his Grandpa.
