First Grade!
Today Brian officially started first grade! He has some brand-new How to Train Your Dragon 2 school supplies, and he was very excited to start the new school year. First through fifth graders just do the regular carpool on the first day, so just he went on in by himself! But he’s a pro, so we weren’t worried. 🙂 Root’s new on-campus after school program doesn’t start for another week, so that means, we have to be on afternoon carpool as well! This is a whole new...

Today was Brian’s last day of Lego camp, and his last day of summer camps, period! He was hiding under the table when we came to pick him up, but he got to make and keep a minifigure, so that made saying goodbye a little easier. 😉 This morning before camp, we took Brian over to Root for Meet the Teacher day, where we all got to meet his new teacher, Mrs. Hounwanou. She’s new to Root, coming here all the way from Kansas City. She seems very nice, and we had a great talk with her...

We picked up Brian from Lego Camp today and he was excited to show us the taco he’d made from a paper plate and construction paper! He loves the Benny poster in the camp room (he has one of his own, but we haven’t put it up in his room yet!) Brian had skating lessons this afternoon, so Kendall and I had some girl time! She was happy to see me when I picked her up, and showed me her Lego creation! I was amazed at the group of 2-year-olds sitting and playing so nicely with their...

Well, he did it! Brian has finished his first whole year as an elementary schooler, and completed Kindergarten today with flying colors. It’s a little bittersweet, of course, but new fun and adventures await in first grade–not to mention the summer filled with many different camp experiences! Sadly, today Brian has to say goodbye to the after school program at Laurel Hills, since they have cancelled the transportation service from Root for next year. Theoretically, Root will...

Today was the long-awaited Fun in the Sun event at Root! Brian was pretty excited about getting to go to school in his swimsuit, knowing there will be a lot of fun, messy, and wet activities today! We started out with some breakfast in the classroom, and Brandon got an early Father’s day gift from Brian. The kids did some morning activities while us parent volunteers got things set up outside the classroom. We set up a bunch of different stations, from sponge races, to water balloon...
