Legos, Tacos, and a Neighborhood Friend
Today we mostly stayed home, and Brian built his new Coast Guard plane! He was pretty interested to learn about the pontoons. He did get distracted along the way, building his own creations–but eventually he saw it through and he was really glad. We played outside just a bit, and a little girl who was walking in the neighborhood with her aunt came by to play with Brian. Abby was really enthusiastic about seeing Brian’s toys, and he was more than happy to tell her about all of...

Today we decided to head out to Shelley Lake to feed the ducks! It had been awhile, and we had a ton of bread heels to distribute. It started feeling like fall today, so Kendall wore her first long sleeves of the year and her sparkly red corduroy pants. I’d been waiting months for her to be able to wear this shirt! It’s an adorable parody of the classic AC/DC logo, but it says AB/CD instead, to fit in with the preschool set. 😉 It makes me chuckle! It attracted a lot of...

Now that Brian is six years old, that opens up the possibility of attending Lego Kids Club meetings! Of course we had to sign him up for the very first one after his birthday. Today was his first meeting, right after swim lessons, and he had a great time. He got to build a cool aircraft, got a t-shirt, and an exclusive mini Coast Guard plane! This was pretty special for Brian, because of how much he loves his full-size Coast Guard plane! Because swimming and the Lego Club meeting were so...
Read MoreThe Lego Table!
Today we were happy to unveil a project we’d been working on for Brian–this Lego table! I’d had this crazy idea, wouldn’t be cool if, we could make an interchangeable tabletop for the train table, that was entirely covered in Lego baseplates. Brandon took that idea and ran with it, discovering that standard whiteboards are the exact same size as the train table top, and figuring out exactly how many baseplates it would take. We collaborated with Brian to come up with...
Read MoreMore Treasure!
Brian was super happy this morning to discover more treasure! This time he received a Kennedy 50-cent piece and a golden Sacajawea dollar. He was pretty impressed! He’s been talking about “golden” this and that, so the Sacajawea was a big hit. I have it on good authority that the Tooth Fairy will be going international next time. 😉 Our chalk birthday decorations are fading, but now it’s time to get ready for Halloween! And also a random duck–because Kendall...
