Column Creativity
The kids really love their Duplos, as you all know. The house is overflowing with them, so you’d think there’d be plenty to go around, but sometimes the kids both want to play with something specific. Today’s favorite type of brick was the column–we nearly had a major battle on our hands over who would gain ultimate control over these rare items! Nobody was happy with having only half the columns at a time. Eventually, we were able to make this epic contest of wills...
Read MoreJuly 4th!
Happy July 4th! We sure had a blast. It was nice getting a day off mid-week. We took it easy this morning and played Legos, of course! We built a new “farmer’s market” type of set, and nearly finished following all of the “constructions”, as Brian calls them! But, with a little sister and Brian’s big ideas, we usually go off the structured path pretty quickly. 🙂 Later, we played outside, with the kids drawing with chalk and making the toy garage into a...

Tonight was a real peak experience for Brian! He got to go out to dinner and a movie with his best buddies, Ty and Drew! We’d been planning this trip to see Despicable Me 2 for a couple weeks, and the boys’ excitement was off the charts. It’s a Wednesday night, but we have the day off tomorrow for Independence Day, so it’s all good, even if we’re out past our bedtime. 🙂 We met up for dinner at Lynnwood Grill, and enjoyed some pretty fantastic pizza. Well,...

We left the backyard tent up overnight, although we didn’t sleep in it. Brian seemed a bit reluctant when it came down to sleeping outside (and honestly, I was a bit nervous as well–remembering his nighttime escapes when he was two!) But this morning, Brian couldn’t couldn’t wait to get back outside and into the tent. So, we decided to pull together a no-cook picnic breakfast, and carried it outside to have in our tent. We had lots of seasonal fruit, including some...

Today was a fun-filled summer Saturday! Brian greeted Kendall in her crib with an impromptu lightsaber battle (what a way to start your day!) After breakfast the kids played with Legos, enjoying the mega-house a little more. Kendall seemed intent on destruction, though, and rather than letting his creation get destroyed by Kendall-zilla, Brian decided to take matters into his own hands. He destroyed his mega-house in a spectacular crash! We’d seen some videos of play ideas for...
Read MoreSci-Fi Spectacular!
Brandon and I got to enjoy a rare night out at the NC Symphony! It was a Sci-Fi Spectacular, featuring music from Star Wars, Star Trek, and many other TV shows and movies that we like. Plus, a special appearance by Mr. George Takei himself! We were also surprised to see a number of Star Wars characters in full costume. We posed for some photo ops to share with Brian. I really wish he could have seen the show! But, it was much too late for him. Hopefully they will do it again when he’s a...
