Snow Day Again
I give up! Let’s try to work again in March, maybe, because we’re home again for yet another snow day. Fully half of February has been a wash, thanks to various disappointing forms of frozen water and related school closures. We’re all a little stir crazy, but did the best we could, staying busy with the giant Duplo castle, board games, lots of ponies on TV, and the hot cocoa flowed freely.. I even tried to get back in Kendall’s good graces by giving her a...

Gahhh! Just when we thought we were done with winter weather, it’s back with a vengeance. Everyone was home again today, as we waited for the big flakes to start falling. And, fall they did–once they got going, we ended up with a pretty significant amount of snow (on top of the re-frozen slushy mess from the last round!) We kept busy with more origami, baking a loaf of lemon bread, Play-Doh, and Duplos–oh, what we built with Duplos..! The kids made all sorts of things,...

Home again today, as the snowpocalpyse continues. Brandon braved the weather and went into the office, hanging up a picture Kendall had made for him, and I tried to work at home and keep the Brian as busy as I could. Sonofa… Here we are, stuck at home, not even a week removed from the last batch of snow days. This time, at least, there is an appreciable amount of snow to play in. It’s really dry snow, though, so it’s fairly unsatisfying for the kids, who want to make snowballs and things. About the best we could do was let Brian make snow angels, and Brandon helped Kendall make a snow dinosaur. You can tell how beat down we are by the end of the day–Brandon didn’t even...

I managed to chase down an iPod classic and dock like my dad had on eBay, and loaded it up with lots of fun stuff so we can enjoy music in our family room. The kids think this is great! The way they skip tracks so quickly, though, I’m questioning the wisdom of putting this in reach of them.. 😉 But, maybe it’ll provide lots of teachable moments about sharing and patience? Tonight we had Sue’s famous chocolate chip cake for dessert at our family dinner, and she shared with...
