Brian’s Republic Gunship
Today we didn’t celebrate Cinco de Mayo in any sort of traditional way–instead, we kept the Star Wars fun going and let Brian start building his Republic Gunship! We were surprised to find that it came with nine bags of parts and two instruction books–this is going to be a whopper of a build! Not to be outdone, Kendall decided to put on Brian’s play hockey gear and run circles around Brian’s building area....

Today we celebrated Star Wars day in a couple different ways! Nana Rosemary watched the kids for a little bit and let us sneak away for a nice lunch together at Firebirds Rocky Mountain Grill. She took the kids to one of their favorite places for lunch, Subway! I think we got the better deal, particularly considering their signature Double Black Diamond martini (not as crazy as it sounds, but definitely a winner for pineapple fans!) but Brian was clearly elated to go to Subway. 🙂 Later, we...

Today was a pretty fun one for Brian! He got to visit the Lego store to get his friend Eli a birthday present, and he built a pretty epic ship while he was there. He went to Eli’s party at Dave & Buster’s, his first time going there. He had a blast, by all accounts. 🙂 After the boys were back home, we decided to keep the party going and head to Chili’s for dinner tonight (Brian’s choice!) Chili’s now has these tablets on each table, where you can pay...

Today was the Spring Book Fair at Root, and of course, we couldn’t miss that! Brian had a list of books he wanted, and found a lot more! Kendall found a pile she wanted as well. We tried to be selective, but we still ended up with a heavy load. Some notable purchases were Lego box sets for each kid, with 3 books and a mini set in each, and a pack of the first 12 Magic Treehouse books. I’m looking forward to those, since they are a good bridge to chapter books for little kids, and...

Today, Brian had a playdate with one of his good buddies from Root, Ladd! He was so excited to have Ladd come over for the first time, and a little surprised–Ladd arrived with a brand-new cast on his arm. He’d taken a tumble at school on Friday and it turned out, he’d broken it. Brian knew about hurt arms after his own hairline fracture last fall, and was happy to sign Ladd’s cast before anyone else at school. The boys played video games, staged a big Star Wars...

We started off our Saturday with a Lego Club meeting where the theme was Spider-Man. We aren’t all that up-to-date on the happenings in the Marvel universe, and we’d never even heard of Electro, the villian featured on this week’s t-shirt. But, no matter–building is fun no matter what, and Brian was happy enough to get an Electro minifigure, his lightning bolts look a lot like force lightning, so Brian was cool with it. 🙂 He wanted to make minifigures, as always,...
