Tree Decorating
We kicked off the holiday season in earnest today, and put up our tree and decorated it! We still haven’t replaced our tree or lights to have something more “normal”, so we had our rainbow tree again this year! We had a bunch of new ornaments, mostly for the kids–a Buttercup Fairy to remember Kendall’s birthday and Halloween costume, an Olaf and Queen Elsa from frozen, two different Hiccup and Toothless ornaments from How to Train Your Dragon, a turtle sandbox,...

It’s the day after Thanksgiving, so it’s time to officially let the holiday madness begin! Today was extra special for us, as we took down all but the last remaining baby gate (at the top of the third-floor stairs). Kendall was in a Star Wars-y mood, so she wore her Princess Leia costume hoodie for awhile, and her Ahsoka t-shirt. We worked on our Christmas tree some, and the kids were happy to see some of their old friends come out of storage (especially those gingerbread kids!)...

It’s Thanksgiving! We gathered over at Steve and Sue’s house, along with Marci, Pete and Julie. Sue had prepared a beautiful meal for us all. The kids amused everyone with their antics (I choose to believe “amused” rather than “annoyed”..!) The kids loved Grandma’s pumpkin tower outside. They each got a special surprise–a personalized ornament! They love having their names on them, and how they light up. Kendall brought over her...

This morning, Kendall was being a pirate–she says “Arrgh! Shiver me timbers!” So cute, especially with her twin ponytails. Brian didn’t have school today, so he stayed home with me. He made a felt farm scene, complete with scarecrow and different vegetables! I wasn’t feeling well, so when I asked if Brian could get his own snack this afternoon, he came down with a clementine artfully placed inside a bowl of fruity Cheerios. That struck me as so funny. 🙂...

I’m not feeling so great, so, we had Char-Grill for dinner, and let the kids have a picnic on the first floor! They were pretty happy about that. Both of them enjoyed wearing hockey gear and playing some before dinner! Brian made a catapult with a spoon, tape, post-it, and sharpie. Very creative, but, attached to the desk, really?! Sheesh....

Today is Kendall’s third birthday! We had her party at home, and decorated the house up with Flower Fairies-themed decorations. Her famous Buttercup Fairy costume from Halloween is one of the Mary Cicely Barker creations that I liked so much when I was a little girl. I’m so glad Kendall likes them, too! We let her wear the costume for her party, since it’s thematic. 😉 We had a beautiful cake from the Cupcake Shoppe again, hand-painted by our favorite designer, featuring...
