Work Anniversary Morning
Today is my one-year anniversary at Red Hat! Brian asked to get in Kendall’s crib this morning, something he hasn’t tried in a really long time. But, since the picture I took of the two of them on my first day at Red Hat has been the background image on my phone for a year now, I said okay, so I could snap a new photo of them, one year later. The sun was so bright streaming through Kendall’s windows that I could barely get a shot of them at all, but it’s clear...

Today’s Lowe’s Build and Grow project was a grabber toy from the movie The Croods. Kendall watched from her stroller–I bet she wishes she could make her own projects! Brian gave her a wild ride in the store (when he wasn’t trying out the lawn mowers), and Brandon picked up supplies to make a shelf for Kendall’s name train to put in her room. The kids played peek-a-boo with Brian’s quilt while Brandon mounted the shelf. I think Kendall was very pleased...

Alison and I, being only children, are very, very concerned with what we call “having parity in the universe” as for what we give our children (time or stuff). We know it’s impossible to have 100% equality, but we do our darnedest to try. The latest example of our ongoing effort to have balance between Brian and Kendall is having her own “name train”. For our regular readers, you’ll recall Brian’s Name Train in primary colors. Well, now our little...

It’s picture day at Goddard! Kendall was looking so cute in her dress with her matching hair bow. I was a bit concerned that even with getting their photos made upon arrival, they would manage to get disheveled by then, but it went well, and I think the pictures will be just fine. 🙂 After school, we saw the dragon that Brian’s class made last month out on display in the lobby. He had told us about it, and how his class did a parade all around the school carrying it, but we...
Read MoreWe Love Books!
Kendall has started getting more interested in her books, and not just for chewing on or pinching Mommy’s fingers in–this morning, she wanted to read even before school! In case you ever wondered what Brian looks like when you call him, here he is enjoying a phone call around dinnertime. 🙂 At Kendall’s bedtime, it was all about a basketball again–she wouldn’t let it go, sleepy as she was! Finally, at Brian’s bedtime, we continued working on his phonics...
Read MoreLego Fair in Chapel Hill
Today we had a leisurely wakeup and breakfast, with some playtime in our pajamas. Brian worked on some more Easter Egg decorations and his springtime Curious George coloring book, after watching his new “Curious George Swings into Spring!” DVD. We’re really getting into the springtime spirit! Eventually we got our act together and headed to Chapel Hill for a small Lego fair that was going on at the Morehead Planetarium. We took a whirlwind tour through some of the...
