Monday Morning Art
It’s Monday morning, it’s time for school–but first, the kids just have to get in some art time! They were so cute working together at the easel. Also, a random picture of my snack at a meeting at NetApp–I was pretty happy about the macaroons. 😉 They know how to feed you over there, that’s for...
Read MoreBeach Trip! Sunday
Today was a truly epic adventure! We decided to take a ride on Grandpa Steve’s boat over to Cape Lookout. Brian got to visit the marina to retrieve the boat, and then we got everyone suited up and ready to go. It took just over an hour to make the trip. Kendall slept in my arms most of the way, I think the waves, engine noise, and restriction of the life jacket just put her right out. Brian was a little apprehensive at first, but quickly decided this was a super fun adventure! I...
Read MoreRed Hat Tower
Today Brandon and I took a walk during lunchtime and noticed that we could see the newly-unveiled top of Red Hat Tower. (It has been covered up with scaffolding for months.) It’s awfully.. Red, isn’t it? But it is pretty striking in the bright summer sun. Also: one of Brian’s collage art pieces, on display in the hallway at school. Unfortunately I don’t know the story on this one..! And finally, Kendall playing in her PJs this evening–she found a pair of...

Today we saw some of our Goddard friends again, when we went to see a baseball game! This was a special family game at the Durham Bulls, sponsored by the Goddard School. The kids got into the spirit early, wearing baseball caps as we were getting ready to go. Once we arrived, we were happy to see that Brian’s friend Selah and her dad were in attendance, and sitting near us. Mr. Malay gave Brian and Selah new Durham Bulls hats, and Ms. Vineeta came by to sit with us for awhile....
Read MoreSci-Fi Spectacular!
Brandon and I got to enjoy a rare night out at the NC Symphony! It was a Sci-Fi Spectacular, featuring music from Star Wars, Star Trek, and many other TV shows and movies that we like. Plus, a special appearance by Mr. George Takei himself! We were also surprised to see a number of Star Wars characters in full costume. We posed for some photo ops to share with Brian. I really wish he could have seen the show! But, it was much too late for him. Hopefully they will do it again when he’s a...
Read MoreFly-Up Day!
Today was Brian’s third and final Fly-Up Day at his Root Preschool class! After being transformed to a Big Kid and then a Super Big Kid in previous years, finally, Ms. Sarah Catherine used her magic wand to transform Brian into a Kindergartener! I’ve got video of the big moment below, and a scan of Brian’s certificate. 🙂 Brian was feeling quite silly and excited, probably overwhelmed by the momentous occasion (or perhaps the the thought of Oreos awaiting him!) We enjoyed...
