Picnic at the Arboretum
It was a beautiful day, so after playing picnic with the toy food for awhile, we decided to have a real picnic at the Raulston Arboretum at NC State. We packed up our gear, picked up some takeout from Neomonde, and enjoyed our Mediterranean feast on the picnic blanket. Then we set off to explore the arboretum. The kids loved discovering the big colorful dragon sculpture, and the stone garden. Kendall kept trying to pick up the round ones, saying “ball!” We liked the desert...

Today after school, Brian told us he wanted to go to the place where he could circle the pictures of what he wanted to eat on the menu. I knew that had to mean Chili’s–since the kids’ menu is on the coloring page they get. To entertain/help him decide, I had Brian circle the things he wanted last time we went to one. We didn’t have any other plans, so we went along with Brian’s plan. It was early enough that we were seated quickly, and Brian enjoyed picking...

Today was Brian’s final School-Family Partnership day with his Root Preschool class! Brandon and I both attended, and Brian was very excited to visit Pullen Park with us during the middle of a weekday! Brian loved all the usual hotspots, including the train ride, mini boats, sand diggers, climbing structures, see-saws, and carousel. It...

For Mother’s Day, Brandon and the kids made sure I had a lovely day! They woke me up to my first gift of blueberry pancakes and maple syrup. Brian helped get breakfast ready. Kendall was wearing her “Good Morning Mommy” PJs. Later, the kids helped Brandon refresh the sandbox by replacing all the old sand with fresh play sand. Moving all that sand was heavy, as Brian showed us to great dramatic effect! We enjoyed the new sand as well as some chalk drawing time. For...

I seem to have been bitten by the record collector bug once again, and I’ve been upgrading my turntable and working on creating a database of all our records and CDs. I decided to share some of my hobby with Brian today, and took him with me to go celebrate Record Store Day at a couple of our local independent record shops! There aren’t too many left these days, but two of my old favorites are still kicking–Schoolkids Records and Nice Price Books. We went to Nice Price...
