Trip day 4
Today was my last day in Vegas, and while my tummy troubles have abated, I’m developing some sore-throat/sinusy-thing–sheesh, I’d be having a better time if my body would cooperate and just be healthy for five minutes! We went to more talks today, and finished up our trip by getting dinner at a fancy restaurant (Pearl, a Chinese place inside the MGM) and going to see a Cirque du Soleil show, Ka. Afterward, we picked up our bags and headed to the airport! Taking the red-eye...

Today was my big day–I did my presentation, and even being sick, with no sleep, I managed it! Everyone said I did really well, and I was relieved to be done. The kids had sent me a really sweet “good luck” video! I did my second panel in the afternoon, part of a Q&A with other customers, and that also went well. Today was the first real day at the conference, we started off with a fancy keynote address (our CIO from Red Hat was a speaker!) Brandon sent me photos of the kids, and it was nice to catch up with everyone by phone...

Today I was off to Las Vegas, to speak at Splunk .conf 2014! The kids saw me off at the airport early this morning. I painted them a quick surprise picture before I left! I took some photos from the airport and from the plane to send them, and Brandon took a photo of them after school to send to me. Pretty cool to see the Grand Canyon from the plane! I hope we can take them there one day. My day was pretty much nothing but travel, but my co-workers and I did manage to get checked in,...

Today we were surprised to receive an unexpected FedEx package. Turns out it was from Lego, for me! They had sent me a bouquet of flowers made by one of their Master Builders, as a thanks for “being an awesome mom!” I think maybe it’s because I reviewed something on their website? Or perhaps it’s because I’ve spent a really embarrassing amount of money on the plastic bricks we all love so much? It’s clear that we’re Lego superfans, just from all...
