July 4th!
Happy July 4th! We sure had a blast. It was nice getting a day off mid-week. We took it easy this morning and played Legos, of course! We built a new “farmer’s market” type of set, and nearly finished following all of the “constructions”, as Brian calls them! But, with a little sister and Brian’s big ideas, we usually go off the structured path pretty quickly. 🙂 Later, we played outside, with the kids drawing with chalk and making the toy garage into a...

We left the backyard tent up overnight, although we didn’t sleep in it. Brian seemed a bit reluctant when it came down to sleeping outside (and honestly, I was a bit nervous as well–remembering his nighttime escapes when he was two!) But this morning, Brian couldn’t couldn’t wait to get back outside and into the tent. So, we decided to pull together a no-cook picnic breakfast, and carried it outside to have in our tent. We had lots of seasonal fruit, including some...

Today was a fun-filled summer Saturday! Brian greeted Kendall in her crib with an impromptu lightsaber battle (what a way to start your day!) After breakfast the kids played with Legos, enjoying the mega-house a little more. Kendall seemed intent on destruction, though, and rather than letting his creation get destroyed by Kendall-zilla, Brian decided to take matters into his own hands. He destroyed his mega-house in a spectacular crash! We’d seen some videos of play ideas for...

Just another manic Monday! But at least I didn’t have to cook today. 🙂 We took the kids out to a nice “Farm to Table” dinner at Relish put on by The Produce Box. It featured all locally grown and produced foods and was quite delicious. We like supporting our local farmers, and our CSA program makes it easy. It’s fun getting our produce box each week, and it’s helpful in teaching the kids about where their food comes from. Brian’s class made insects out...

Today was filled with Lego building fun! Brian spent much of the day in his PJs, working on a mega-house. He ended up making it about four stories high, with a playground/landing pad on the roof, and a campsite outside. Kendall enjoyed putting her favorite Red Baby to bed, putting him in the bed and saying “night-night!” and then taking him out again, over and over. Brian had the Mommy and Daddy figures put the Brian and Kendall figures to bed, too–but then they had to...
