Anderson’s Birthday Party
With two kids in late-preschool and early-elementary school, it seems like every weekend is a birthday party, and this weekend was no exception. Today was a home backyard party for Anderson. Their house backs-up to the Beltline, but the “Great Wall of Raleigh” does a good job making the backyard feel like you’re away from it all. They even had a zip-line which was a huge hit with the kids! Earlier in the day we just had fun with toys and stuffed animals! We got a bunch of...

It’s a Teacher Workday on the Wake County Public School traditional calendar, so Brian and I hung out today while Alison and Kendall were at work and school, respectively. We did various things throughout the day. In the morning I got a stew going in the crock pot. In the afternoon, I thought we could take some corrugated cardboard to the recycling convenience center. The kids played soccer, had cake, and got a bunch of party favors! This all reminded me that we were down to a month before Brian’s seventh birthday party, and we were still not completely ready. His planned theme is also a discontinued entertainment property, so finding...

Way-back in preschool, Brian seemed to have about three birthday parties a month by the time he graduated. But, with Kindergarten, and a whole lot of new people, the parties settled-down to a more manageable number. It has almost gotten to the point where I miss them. So, what luck, Ella had a Birthday pool party! This was especially fun since it was the middle of summer break, so a lot of Mrs. Boswell’s kids and parents got together to catch up and have fun poolside. There were...
