Vegas Trip, day 2
Today was the first real day at the conference, we started off with a fancy keynote address (our CIO from Red Hat was a speaker!) We checked out the Red Hat booth (which was curiously unmanned early in the morning, hmm!) We spent the day going to lots of different talks and meetups, and this evening there was a party with a gigantic inflatable Buttercup Pwny. I thought the kids would be amused by that! Today I was off to Las Vegas, to speak at Splunk .conf 2014! The kids saw me off at the airport early this morning. I painted them a quick surprise picture before I left! Today was a busy day! We started off with some yummy Star Wars pancakes, and then headed off to the Museum of Life+Science in Durham for the Pumpkin Patch Express! For this event, the museum staff sets up lots of fun games and activities in the woods, at the far end of the train loop. With two kids in late-preschool and early-elementary school, it seems like every weekend is a birthday party, and this weekend was no exception. Today was a home backyard party for Anderson. Their house backs-up to the Beltline, but the “Great Wall of Raleigh” does a good job making the backyard feel like you’re away from it all.
