Steve’s Birthday Bear
Brian had decided back in August what he wanted to give Grandpa Steve for his birthday–his own Build-A-Bear, dressed up as a little fisherman–complete with a little fishing rod and two sparkly plush fishes. He never forgot this plan, and was just so set on it, today we made it a reality. The kids both took this present-making very seriously. They started to argue over who got to prepare the little heart that goes inside the bear before it was stitched up–but then decided,...

Today we all went out to Zebulon to visit Nana Rosemary and Pake Sytse. It was a sunny day, so we walked down to the pond to see the new trail they’d cut. The kids liked being out in nature, and I did, too. Brian liked getting to drive the golf cart a little. We saw so much mistletoe in the trees, some of it was so low, we could reach out and grab it! Grandpa Roger took a photo with a sprig of mistletoe for Grandma Cheryl, and I got Brandon to pose for a cheesy photo with some....

Today was a special day for Kendall! We started out by going to Build-A-Bear to get her new Princess Celestia all fluffed up. Brian got to stay home with Grandpa Roger–good thing, it was certainly a zoo in the Build-A-Bear on the day after Christmas! Hoo boy. Grandpa might...

They came downstairs to the Mameshiba Christmas song–we now have a complete set of the plushie beans they love so much. 😉 We had our Christmas stollen for breakfast, and then it was time for presents. The first thing they noticed was the Tauntaun sleeping bag. 🙂 The kids got the things they asked Santa for when we rode the Santa Train–a Bitty Baby book for Kendall, and Clone Wars Lego sets for Brian. (Among about a...

It’s Christmas Eve, and the kids are predictably over-excited and bouncing off the walls! Well, who can blame them. 🙂 We had holiday donuts thanks to Nana Rosemary to start the day off with a sugary bang. Both kids had new holiday character shirts to wear. Once everyone was dressed, we worked on some crafts together. Brian made a Viking shield out of paper, and Kendall and I made a My Little Pony sticker picture together. Before long, Nana and Sytse were here for our Christmas...
