Hockey Game
Feels like we were just at the PNC Arena, because we were 🙂 We’re back for the Toronto Maple Leafs game. Unfortunately, the Hurricanes lost 2-1, but we still had a great time. I always like watching the Canadian teams when they come to Raleigh! I also enjoy listening to O Canada paired with The Star Spangled Banner. We took a little extra time during intermission to make a poster to cheer on the ‘Canes. What Brian created was more like an instructional poster that the Hurricanes...
Read MoreMighty Mites at the ‘Canes Game
So, we had something really exciting happen this evening. The IcePlex Mites program was invited to participate during the first and second intermissions of the Carolina Hurricanes game tonight against the Anaheim Ducks! I’ve witnessed this spectacle many times over the years and never thought I’d have a kid participating in it, but here we are! Every time Brian and I had been to a game and we saw the Mighty Mites, he always wanted to know when he could do it. I could never give him...
Read MoreBuilding, Hockey
It’s a nice autumn Saturday and it starts with Kendall’s swim lessons followed by Brian’s Lowe’s Build and Grow Pullback Car Clinic. It’s kind of full-circle, as his very first build was a race car garage. This build is much more complicated, but Brian’s development in building made it easy enough for him to complete on his own. Later, we were off to the IcePlex for a Mite House League game. And, besides Nana Rosemary and Pake Sytse cheering Brian on, Ms....

Here are the kids’ holiday pictures from Goddard!  🙂  I was still in Brno when these were made, so Brandon had to wrangle both kids for this before-school photo shoot all by himself.  Nicely done, Dad....
Read MoreHalloween
Boo! It’s, finally, Halloween! The kids have been asking about it since spring and it’s here! This one is going to be a little different as Alison has to start-out on her trip to Brno, Czech Republic before Trick-or-Treating time. Alison hated to have to miss it, but luckily she was able to be there for the Red Hat Family Halloween Party and the Goddard Trunk-or-Treating celebration. But, we’ll get back to that in a moment. The day started out fairly normal with Kendall...
Read MoreSurprise Cake
Today was a teacher workday for Brian, and lucky for everyone, Nana Rosemary was available to watch him, so Brandon and I could both go to work!  She and Brian made a surprise cake for me, cutting a pound cake into a heart shape, adding orange and yellow surprise frosting inside, chocolate frosting outside, and Brian’s craaaazy decorations, making it into a happy heart face.  He also made a big “Surprise!” sign to go with it.  Thanks Brian (and Mom!)  🙂  Later tonight, I...
