Dragon Tees
Today the kids (and I!) all wore our new Dragon t-shirts! The kids went to school like it was a normal day, but Brandon and I played hooky, and made it a work-around-the-house day. We took a lot of things to multi-materials recycling, including the kids’ infant carrier, bases, stroller, and high chair. The car seat was past the expiration date, and the high chair and stroller were just thrashed, so we couldn’t pass these on to others. We restocked on soap, which Brian...
Read MoreFirst Grade!
Today Brian officially started first grade! He has some brand-new How to Train Your Dragon 2 school supplies, and he was very excited to start the new school year. First through fifth graders just do the regular carpool on the first day, so just he went on in by himself! But he’s a pro, so we weren’t worried. 🙂 Root’s new on-campus after school program doesn’t start for another week, so that means, we have to be on afternoon carpool as well! This is a whole new...
Read MoreFresh Beat Band!
Our third time attending a Fresh Beat Band concert was today. As a reminder, the first time we saw them we travelled to Norfolk, VA to see them. At the time, we had no idea how long they would be doing these concerts or how many locations. It was a huge deal to Brian at the time that we actually went on a weekday to see them. Later, we saw them the second time when they actually came to Raleigh, to the Red Hat Amphitheatre no less, and we watched the whole thing in a figurative monsoon....
Read MoreLego Club and Reading Class, again!
This morning, Brian and I had another double-activity morning, with a Lego Club meeting (Chima-themed), followed by his reading class at NC State. Brian is really surprising me with how well he’s doing with his reading! When he’s able to pay attention and stay on task, that is. 😉 He still likes to visit the fountain after class, just like last year. Brandon and Kendall had a significantly less fun morning. Kendall’s lingering cough seemed so much worse today, that Brandon...
Read MoreMeet the Teacher Day
Today was Brian’s last day of Lego camp, and his last day of summer camps, period! He was hiding under the table when we came to pick him up, but he got to make and keep a minifigure, so that made saying goodbye a little easier. 😉 This morning before camp, we took Brian over to Root for Meet the Teacher day, where we all got to meet his new teacher, Mrs. Hounwanou. She’s new to Root, coming here all the way from Kansas City. She seems very nice, and we had a great talk with her...
Read MorePlay-Doh Fun
Brian is at Lego Camp this week, which he seems to like a whole lot! He’s been spending the mornings with Grandma Sue and Grandpa Steve. Today Grandma even hooked him up with a popsicle at Pullen Park before camp! As is usually the case, he didn’t really want to leave he was having so much fun building with his new buddies. After camp, Brian went to town on the Play-Doh, and Kendall was more than happy to help, once she arrived home! We presented Brian with a new book, based...
