Picture Day!
It’s picture day for the kids! It started out bright and early, thanks to Kendall. She’s picked up another of her brother’s two-year-old habits, that of crawling into bed with us overnight. She does it multiple times, usually kicking me in the face repeatedly, before one of us removes her back to her room. She brings various items with her, and while Brian would just bring his Tiger and polar bear consistently, Kendall brings different items every time. Sometimes...

Today started early, with Brian’s swim lessons this morning! Kendall tagged along, and Brandon got some cute pictures of them sitting outside in the sun. Then, Brian was off to get a haircut while I hung out with Kendall. Later, Brian went to his friend Emily’s birthday party–he was happy to discover that that it was at Orange Leaf, one of our favorite frozen yogurt places nearby. He picked out this kind of weird-looking octopus birthday card for her, and while he was...

We often go out for Mexican food on Friday nights, and tonight was one of those nights! After Brian’s skating lesson, we all met up and headed over to La Rancherita for dinner. We were all pretty excited by the new fresh-made guacamole, and I think the kids would have been happy with just a tub of that...

Tonight was Brian’s first musical performance at school! The kindergarten and first grade students presented Seussical the Musical (program, PDF) this evening! Brian had been practicing the songs for months, with us hearing him singing in the bathroom, the bathtub, while he was getting dressed.. If we asked, he would laugh and say “nothing!” He wanted it all to be a surprise. The kids did an amazing job with their performance, remembering so many songs, and the moves to...

…the best thing in the world is to be greeted by two happy children! Today I made my conference debut, speaking at SplunkLive! Raleigh. I’ve been so busy over the past few weeks, with a major upgrade project among too many other things, and I wish I could have had a little more time to prepare for this..! I didn’t feel that great about my performance, there were some A/V glitches that sort of messed up the flow, and some slide issues that had to be fixed at the last...
