July Beach Trip, day 4
Today on our beach trip, we went to the real, actual, sandy beach! We weren’t sure which one to visit, but we ended up heading towards Pine Knoll Shores and driving around until we found a public beach access. Of course the parking was not adjacent to said access, so, we had quite the hike along the side of the road, carrying all of our gear! But, once we got there, the beach was lovely. Absolutely perfect beach weather, warm and sunny, cool water, a nice breeze. Brian was super...

Like many mornings after a hurricane, today started out bright and clear! Brian wanted to go outside early, since he was worried about a moth that had been hanging out on the porch yesterday. He didn’t know if it had made it through the storm or not. We were amazed to see that it was alive and hanging tough (literally!) under the porch railing. We very gently helped it find its way to freedom beyond the porch. Brian made his own Lego creation with the new Jake and the Neverland...

Today was another fun-filled day at the beach! The kids were up bright and early as usual, and started the day by playing with Legos in their jammies. I played with my new camera some, it’s got a lot of fun features like selective color effects and even a “glamour” mode–which I’ll probably not use very much. 😉 Kendall really wants my purple camera case. We went out for breakfast, and Kendall took her prized mermaid Hello Kitty along–a special gift from...

Today we started our summer beach trip! We hit up the Bojangles on the way down, and discovered they had special BoBerry biscuits! For the 4th of July they have patriotic red “strawberry” and blue “blueberry” bits to go along with the white icing. Awesome. We shared a couple of them for dessert and they were better than they had any right to be. 😉 Afterward we hit the road again, and like the Beach Boys sang, “we’ll get there fast, and then we’ll...

We’re on vacation this week, and before we head to the beach, we’ve got a few days to fill. Today we took the kids out to Marbles! There’s a new energy exhibit they both enjoyed, and Kendall loved wearing the hot pink hard hat while learning about power grids and distribution. 😉 The kids enjoyed lots of their favorite activities, like the giant Legos, basketball, and Brian really got into the construction activity. He started making a wood frame with the hand tools they...

Today the kids surprised me while I was getting ready with a cute bowl of stuffed animal friends! Aww.. We had a nice relaxing breakfast on the porch, with some mini breakfast sticky buns from Williams-Sonoma. Yum! Then, it was time for the main event of the day–heading out to Southpoint to go see How to Train Your Dragon 2! Oh, it was fantastic, really a wonderful movie, maybe even better than the first! Wow. I am pretty sure the dragons have moved in to stay–in our hearts!...
