‘Canes Kids Club Party
Tonight was the Hurricanes Kids’ Club party at PNC Arena! This was a pretty special event for Brian. We got to tour all around some of the behind-the-scenes areas at the stadium, including the locker room. Brian won an autographed puck in the raffle, and he collected autographs from some of his favorite players, and Stormy. But most importantly, he got to skate on the very ice where the ‘Canes play. This was a pretty big deal for him! Kendall and I watched from the stands,...

Have you ever had days that just ran together in one big blur? That’s this week for me. Not only did we have a (fairly pointless) snow day on Tuesday, and another (totally legit) one on Wednesday, we ended up with two more–yes, 4 out of 5 days this week, we were all stuck at home. Brandon and I have some flexibility in our jobs, but we did have to work from home during this time, so we managed it by trading kid-watching shifts every few hours. The kids were as good as one could...

Well, we may have pooh-poohed the late-arriving snow yesterday, but it’s definitely here today! School was cancelled, so we all stayed home together. The kids were impatient to go and play in the snow, so I let them play with a bowl of it from the porch during breakfast. Once we were all bundled up, we headed outside! Brian was looking forward to making a snowman, and having a snowball fight–but this snow had other ideas! I’d never seen anything like it, practically...

After a few false starts, the snow is finally here! We’ve had 2-hour delays and after-school activities cancelled a few times this year, but nary a flake until late this evening! School was closed today in anticipation of snowpocalypse–but that ended up being entirely unnecessary. Oh well! I was so busy trying to work, and spend time with Brian when I could look away from the computer, I hardly took any photos today at all! We did build our Lego Creator Family House set today,...
Read MoreConnect Four!
Brian is really, really into Connect Four right now. He plays it with his friends at Laurel Hills after school, and he is serious about it–he plays to win! We got the iPad app, but also had to run out and pick up our own set at Target. I am secretly glad that he seems to like the physical game the most. 🙂 I have taught him some of my tricksy moves, and he can stump Brandon pretty regularly now! We have to console him, telling him it’s just a game, not to take it personally..!...

Today, Brian had the day off, due to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s birthday, but the rest of us didn’t! I stayed home with him and tried to work at the same time, with varying degrees of success. 😉 Brian stayed busy, setting up shop and playing store for quite awhile, making some Play-Doh creations, and my favorite project–painting and building these wooden cars. It took a lot of patience, to paint each piece, wait for it to dry, glue things together in the right order..!...
