Marbles Trip!
We’re on vacation this week, and before we head to the beach, we’ve got a few days to fill. Today we took the kids out to Marbles! There’s a new energy exhibit they both enjoyed, and Kendall loved wearing the hot pink hard hat while learning about power grids and distribution. 😉 The kids enjoyed lots of their favorite activities, like the giant Legos, basketball, and Brian really got into the construction activity. He started making a wood frame with the hand tools they...

Woo! Vacation week. Brian doesn’t have camp this week, Brandon and I have the week off, and we’re heading to the beach for July 4th. But, Kendall still had school today, and we knew she wouldn’t want to miss the Kinder Kixx soccer event! So we decided to do something special with Brian, and took him to the IMAX theater at Marbles to see the Island of Lemurs movie. I’d been wanting to see this one for awhile, so I was really glad to go. Brian doesn’t like 3D...

Today the kids surprised me while I was getting ready with a cute bowl of stuffed animal friends! Aww.. We had a nice relaxing breakfast on the porch, with some mini breakfast sticky buns from Williams-Sonoma. Yum! Then, it was time for the main event of the day–heading out to Southpoint to go see How to Train Your Dragon 2! Oh, it was fantastic, really a wonderful movie, maybe even better than the first! Wow. I am pretty sure the dragons have moved in to stay–in our hearts!...

Just another lazy Saturday for the Perkins clan–oh, no wait, we don’t have those. 🙂 It was the crazy-busy kind of Saturday that we usually have! We started things off bright and early with a Lego Movie-themed Lego meeting. Next up, a Lowe’s Build and Grow where Brian built a cool How To Train Your Dragon 2 Sheep Launcher game! He thinks this is awesome, and really, it works way better than you’d think! After that, we met up to head over to Goddard School for their...

This week, Brian was back at Marbles for a morning camp session based on Magic Treehouse! I’ve probably mentioned those books before, but they are a really fun series of books that are about a brother and sister who travel through time and space to visit many historical or otherwise exotic locations! They are a good early chapter book for kids Brian’s age, and he really loves reading them with me. The stories have sparked some really fun conversations about the various times and...

Today started Brian’s second week of summer camp, back at Marbles this week, for a morning session focused on Magic Treehouse! It was a bright and sunny morning, and Kendall was looking cool in her shades on the way to school. Marbles was getting things kicked off in a festive way, with a bubble maker running at the front door! That was helpful in keeping the kids entertained before the doors opened up. We got him safely to his room, and he was ready to get right to it! We...
